Black Belt Testing is the culmination of your experience here at Omega Martial Arts. Due to the pandemic, this year’s testing will be CLOSED to general spectators.  Guidance for attendance will be sent directly to this year’s testers and family members to keep this test safe for those involved and to remain within state requirements.

SCHEDULE:

WEDNESDAY (6 – 9 PM) –  Table Questions, Open Forms, System Requirements
THURSDAY (6 – 9 PM) – System Requirements, Specialty Kicks, Sparring and Musicals
FRIDAY (6 – 9 PM) – Weapons, Self Defense, Musicals and System Requirements
SATURDAY (9 AM – Finish) – Advanced System Requirements, Musicals, Weapons, Specialty Kicks, Sparring, Board and Brick Breaking, & Black Belt Ceremony).

(Testers will receive a detailed schedule of events for their family members)

Going to try and host it over zoom.  At the moment we can only have 100 people but I’m going to change that hopefully.

Temperature Checks and Face Coverings:

  • Each candidate will be allowed ONE spectator
  • Each candidate, their spectator, and instructors will be required to have their temperature taken when arriving at the studio. If you have a fever or any other COVID-19 symptom, you will be asked to leave, and watch the test online.
  • Each spectator and tester will need to practice social distancing and wear a mask while in the studio when closer than 6 feet.

Format Changes with Black Belt Testing:

  1. We will NOT be having a full black belt board, only those few who have been asked will be in attendance.
  2. No runners will be needed for the weapons portion.
  3. The Black Belt ceremony will be a bit different this year. We ask that only one of your family members participate in this ceremony with you. They are welcome to watch the live feed of the test, come in during your portion and leave following your individual presentation…we will be doing the certificate presentation, tie on the black belt, and rose ceremony for one candidate at a time…then continuing on to the next student; ending with the water ceremony.
  4. There will not be a candidate dinner after the test.
  5. Hanshi Perdaris will not be traveling to join us at this year’s test but he will have access to the live stream links. We will miss him dearly.
  6. We will not have any additional seminars during black belt week.
  7. This year testing is going to be different, but it is going to be AWESOME! It will be awesome because of all of YOU. Thank you and keep practicing!
